Two years ago Codemasters released World Championship Snooker. The game was quite impressive as a snooker game but the game itself was a port from the PlayStation 2 version and its console roots were all too obvious. If you've played any of the Virtual Pool games then you'll find the control system takes a lot of getting used to, but that's not to say that it's not worth the effort.

The game is fairly straight forward to play and has a full set of aiming assists to help beginners get into a game and perform big breaks. There's tournaments, quick matchs and LAN/Internet games are all possible, pretty impressive for only £4.99. You can even take part in a masterclass if you wish to learn new techniques.

There isn't any subtitles in World Championship Snooker. This isn't too much of a disaster but it does mean that deaf gamers will be completely unaware of the commentary given by Dennis Taylor. This is a shame as the commentary is actually very good and creates an authentic TV snooker atmosphere. On the bright side though the Masterclass tutorials are completely in text.

Recommendation: A fiver well spent for Snooker fans.
Suitability for deaf gamers: Suitable. Commentary isn't subtitled but it doesn't affect the gameplay.

Overall Game Rating: 3.0/5
