Cast your mind back to 1999. Shiny, very popular indeed after the success of MDK were thought to be ready to deliver an extra special game that was supposed to be as innovative as it was spectacular. By the time the game surfaced in early 2000 it was obvious that whilst the game was in some ways innovative, it was in no way spectacular. Messiah was that game. Riddled with bugs and suffering numerous graphics card incompatibilities, it was a right pain to get working on the Voodoo card I had back then, the game was as stable as a horse on ice skates. Needless to say that only a couple of months after it's release it was to be found in the bargain bin for less than £10.

You play as the delightful, cherub like, Bob. Bob has been sent by the almighty to get rid of the scumbags. Bob is to do this by possessing any individual he chooses and by doing so he is able to use weapons and solve puzzles that would otherwise halt his progress. In fact Messiah, despite it's initial problems isn't actually a bad game and with the patch, that's also on the disk, I didn't encounter any game crashes.

I would have said that Messiah is well worth the £4.99 but it's a shame that whilst the tutorial messages are subtitled, nothing else is. This makes gameplay awkward and there are much better alternatives in the Sold Out range for deaf gamers.

Recommendation: Not recommended for lack of subtitles.
Suitability for deaf gamers: Only tutorial messages are subtitled.

Overall Game Rating: 2.0/5
