Every so often you get a good game that comes along and it gets little attention. Such games sell poorly but those people that have invested in the game are often impressed and can't understand why the game hasn't been praised to the hilt. Three Kingdoms: Fate of The Dragon is one such title and didn't do half as well as it should have. On its release a couple of years ago it was simply dismissed as an Age of Empires clone. This was unfair as even playing the game for a short time reveals it's very different from most games out there.

Three Kingdoms in set in China in the 2nd century and lets you choose one of three warlords to play as with each one leading to a different gameplay experience. The resource management within the game is quite unlike any other RTS and it makes a refreshing change. You'll also have your fair share of natural disasters such as earthquakes and plagues to contend with and these help keep things interesting. The combat isn't very impressive though to be honest and without formations and only three different military units it's never going to create spectacular battles.

Three Kingdoms is deaf gamer friendly and all of the speech within the game, except for the unit confirmations, is subtitled. The tutorials and campaigns are subtitled too so you'll have no problems at all with the game. Three Kingdoms: Fate of The Dragon is definitely worth a purchase. It does have some niggles but overall it's an enjoyable and very different RTS.

Recommendation: A refreshing change from most of the RTS games out there and the only Chinese based RTS that I can think of so it definitely has a style of it's own.

Suitability for deaf gamers: No problems at all for deaf gamers.

Overall Game Rating: 4.0/5
