Command & Conquer Red Alert

Despite it's age there are many who would argue that Red Alert was the finest Command & Conquer game ever. The game has a superb mix of missions that range from all out war to missions where you controlled a James Bond type character on a solo mission, the game was, and still is, pure class.

The game gives you a choice of playing as the Allies or the Soviets. The Allies missions are slightly easier though so it's probably best to play them first. Compared to modern day RTS games it seems a little simplistic but to be honest the gameplay is so good that after a couple of minutes play you'll be so engrossed that you won't notice. If you haven't played any RTS games before and would like to get into the genre then there can be no better title than this for learning you the basics.

The cutscenes are not subtitled, unit confirmations are not shown and there is speech that warns you when you are under attack and when you've lost units that is also not subtitled. Despite these niggles though the game is fine for deaf gamers. Red Alert still plays like a dream after all these years and it's difficult to believe it's now 7 years old.

Recommendation: Highly Recommended. Still one of the best RTS games of all time.

Suitability for deaf gamers: OK. Cutscenes are not subtitled and verbal warnings are not shown in text but this won't stop you from enjoying the game.

Overall Game Rating: 4.5/5
