Having
reviewed the PlayStation 2 and GameCube versions of Blood Omen 2
it comes as quite a shock to see how much better it looks on the
PC with the increased screen resolutions at which you can run the
game. In every other respect it’s the same game though. You
control Kain who is bought back from the dead to assist the Cabal
in their attempts to rid themselves of the Vampire hating Sarafan
Lord.
All
things considered this is a good action game that throws the odd
puzzle at you from time to time. The puzzles are never too difficult
and won’t ever get to the point where you give up in frustration.
Most of the time you’ll find yourself having to get past blockades
that the Sarafan Lord has placed in your way. The game can get a
little repetitive though as the combat and blood sucking seems like
it’s never ending. Thankfully Kain acquires special abilities
that enable him to take a stealthy approach from time to time.
It’s
a shame that the game isn't subtitled though. Only tutorial messages
are shown in text. This prevents the game from being a recommended
title but if you like action games that require a bit of thinking
every now and then (and can stomach the vampire theme) then this
is a fiver well spent.
Recommendation:
Blood Omen 2 is a good action game and it's now a whole lot cheaper
on the PC than it is on the consoles.
Suitability for deaf gamers: No subtitles but it still is
playable if you have a thing about vampires.
Overall
Game Rating: 3.0/5
