F16 is another
example of the quality that you can purchase for less than a fiver. This combat
flight simulation might be several years old and even lack hardware acceleration
(unless you have a Voodoo 1 or 2) but what it lacks in graphical splendor (although
it is a good looking software mode) it certainly makes up for it in quality
gameplay. The game/simulation is one of the finest ever made and also has the
added bonus of playing like dream on a very old system such as a P90 or above.
Feature wise the game also oozes quality. It has 20 training missions and 30
single combat missions which are spread evenly over three zones. These zones
are Cyprus, Israel and Korea. The missions are challenging but the thoroughness
of the training missions does prepare for you them. The handling of the F16
does feel very smooth (although I can't claim that its like the real thing as
I have never been in one) and its more than a match for most of the new flight
simulations.
Visual feedback via the cockpit is good but there are a couple of verbal messages
that are not relayed in text, but having said this, all vital info is relayed
via the cockpit. All in all if you like combat flight sims this is worthy of
your money.
Recommendation:
Highly Recommended. It's still one of the best combat flight simulations.
Suitability for deaf gamers: Suitable but some radio messages have no visual
representation.
