Descent 3 Published
by Sold Out Software Descent was one of the first games to make effective use of a 3D engine. Controlling a spacecraft in small and confined areas was surprisingly addictive back in the 1990s. Descent 3 arrived in 1999 and looked fantastic. The system requirements needed at the time were steep but by today's standards, they are nothing. The game still looks good though, which is a remarkable achievement, four years on. What you'll need for Descent 3 is a good Joystick. Trying to use the mouse and keyboard is just far too difficult. To begin with it seems alright but as you progress to the more difficult missions it becomes impossible to manoeuvre quickly enough. With a good Joystick though, it's fairly straightforward and the game can be very enjoyable. The introduction shows you where the second game left off and explains how you were rescued from falling into the sun. When I say it explained it's clear to see what happened. There aren't any subtitles although the intro has very limited speech. The games cutscenes are not subtitled and the tutorial has very limited text that doesn't give you access to all the information and can leave you in the dark about what to do next. In the game you don't get any text alert for messages you receive, which can make things awkward but not altogether impossible. Recommendation:
Not Recommended unless you'll put up with missing information. Overall Game Rating: 2.5/5 |
