Deathtrap Dungeon, at first glance, appears to be a fantasy style Tomb Raider game. However after playing the game for only a few minutes it becomes obvious that this is not the case. Deathtrap Dungeon is a big disappointment in almost every department. I should emphasize that the game is rather temperamental about the graphics configuration and it took me several attempts to find a setup that didn't flip me back to the desktop. Also at first the game did not recognise the fact that the CD-ROM was in the drive. The fix for this problem was on the CD but it should have been fixed automatically.

Graphically the game is abysmal and even with a 3dfx card it still looks worse than the original Tomb Raider (with a 3dfx card). The game frequently becomes choppy (on a 900 Athlon Thunderbird too) which is annoying in mid-battle.
The control system is at best awkward and lacks the familiarity of the Tomb Raider configuration.

Unlike Tomb Raider you can choose between a male or female character which is nice even though it has no effect on gameplay. Talking of gameplay it is nothing different here as it still involves you going from one place to another flick switches and finding different objects. The game is also plagued with the 'save at specific points only' syndrome which really does nothing to endear you to it. All in all the game is one that is difficult to recommend. If you haven't bought the original Tomb Raider then buy that instead as it is also £4.99 and far more worthy of your money.

Recommendation: Not Recommended. Too many things wrong with the game.
Suitability for deaf gamers: OK.
