Colin McRae Rally was the finest rally game ever when it was released in 1998. The handling of the car was the main reason the gaming press went potty about it on both the Playstation and the PC. In fact the game still looks excellent even though it is several years old and the sequel has been released for around six months.

The game includes a championship, rally, time trial & network play modes and the driving is always fast and furious. The game contains over fifty different stages that are spread over 8 countries with diverse terrain. The handling is indeed very good and should you feel the need there is even a driving school mode. The one problem that Colin McRae Rally has for the deaf gamer is the driving school mode as there is only vocal instruction and no text instructions at all. This is peculiar as in the rest of the game direction icons are used to depict the instructions of the co-driver.

Colin McRae Rally is a steal at £4.99 and is definitely the best driving game you can buy on a budget label. If you can't afford the sequel or your computer doesn't meet the sky high system requirements for it then look no further than Colin McRae Rally. It will not disappoint.

Recommendation: Highly Recommended. A superb driving game at a superb price.
Suitability for deaf gamers: Suitable but the Driving School mode should have had subtitles.
