Carmageddon II Published
by Sold Out Software Without a doubt the most controversial driving game of all time was Carmageddon. Getting behind the wheel and splattering pedestrians was an idea that was way, way too much for the press, politicians and censors alike. Looking back now with all the software that has gone since those times, it seems difficult to believe that such a heavy handed approach was adopted for Carmageddon alone. Initially the blood was turned to green to avoid distress. However this release sees the uncensored version (red blood and all) finally become available. The aim of the game is simple, take part in races and splat as many pedestrians as possible. There are a number of power ups scattered around to take advantage of. There is even one to allow you to go underwater should you feel the need to. The game is rather well endowed in the features department too. There are 30 tracks, 10 manic mission levels and 10 new environments for you to enjoy whilst you go pedestrian splatting. Graphically the game still looks OK although it has no chance of competing with modern PC racing games (it is four years old after all). Any PC that is less than four years old should make this game fly. On the package it says it doesn't work with Windows XP but using the latest patch it is possible to make it work with XP. There are no problems for deaf gamers at all as there is no reliance on speech in the game. In fact the only requirement is for a strong stomach and a taste for pedestrian splattering. If you don't have either one of these, then you should give it a miss. Recommendation:
Recommended as long as you've a stomach for it. Overall Game Rating: 3.5/5 |
