Take the
basic gameplay of Sim City, add clear specific goals, inject a lively
dose of beautiful
animation and finally, add a flavour of ancient Rome and what you have is Caesar
3. This game is now almost 3 years old and nothing has since been released by
anybody that captivates and holds your attention as long as Caesar 3 does. You
can either play through the missions that will ultimately see you become Caesar
or you can elect to play in a sandbox mode that will simply last forever (or
until you've had enough). In Caesar 3 you do not only have the people to please
but five Gods as well.
If you're in anyway interested in Sim City style games or 'God' games then Caesar
3 is an absolute must. The gameplay is perfection and you will never tire of
it. Text feedback is superb. The only exception being that the intro isn't subtitled
but this doesn't really have any bearing on the game. Right clicking on a person
lets you know what they think of your city and their thoughts are beautifully
provided in text. I purchased this game about 2 weeks after it was released
in November 1998 and it is still one of my most played games. The system requirements
for the game are very low but everything else about this game is sky high. Caesar
3 is one of the finest games you will ever buy and to add to the value the game
also comes with the map editor that was made available on the Impressions website
as well as alterable difficulty levels (unlike the original release) so even
if you have a copy of the original release you have an excuse to purchase this
version.
