Akimbo Kung-Fu Hero Published
by Sold Out Platform games are a rarity on the PC. Some people point to titles such as Tomb Raider and claim that they are platform titles. However what most gamers consider to be a true platformer is the side-scrolling view that used to be used by console platformers, and still is by a number of games on the GBA. On the PC you're pretty much out of luck. However, Sold out have released a game called Akimbo Kung-Fu Hero and this looks to be the answer for people who want a decent side-scrolling platformer. Containing 6 different worlds and plenty of puzzles and action, Akimbo plays as good as the best of the great, past platform games. You control Akimbo who is a Kung-Fu expert and has a whole range of attacks to take on the enemies he will come across. One of the best features of Akimbo is that it contains some intelligent puzzles that help break up the repetitive jumping from one platform to the next. The puzzles, whilst not overly difficult, do require some logical thought. Graphically Akimbo won't set the world alight but it is perfectly adequate for this type of game. The animations are all OK, particularly some of the Kung-Fu moves that Akimbo can perform. There is no speech in the game. The text feedback is simplistic but to be honest that's all it needs to be as it covers all the information. If you're looking for an old style platformer then Akimbo could be the game for you, particularly at the asking price of less than £5. Recommendation:
Recommended. A rare gem for platform game fans. Overall Game Rating: 4.0/5 |
