The third game in the Thief series was long awaited after first two games in the series had been very impressive. Although many games claimed to rely on stealth (before the Thief series came along), the Thief games took stealth game play to another level. More often than not, it would mean certain death if you didn't manage to keep to the shadows and remain out of sight.
Thief: Deadly Shadows never quite manages to reach the standard of the previous games in the series but nevertheless it's still a great game. Once more you play as Garrett, the Master Thief. Those of you who are familiar with the previous Thief games will be happy with what's on offer here but it's obvious that this is a game that was developed on the Xbox. The level design doesn't seem as expansive as in previous Thief games and certain aspects of the game appear to have been dumbed down (the AI is a lot more forgiving than in previous Thief games).
Thief: Deadly Shadows is subtitled (they have to be enabled) and you'll be able to follow the game's story. Briefings and tutorial tips are also shown in text. However it's difficult to claim that Thief: Deadly Shadows is deaf gamer friendly. The reason for this is that the game relies heavily on you being able to hear the sounds around you. Not being able to see enemies that are out of sight and other important environmental sounds really makes the game a lot more difficult and I suspect many will find the game too awkward because of this.
Overall Game Rating: 4.0/5

A great addition to the Thief series. The game is subtitled, however, the very nature of the game means you're going to need to be able to hear your enemies and this makes it difficult for deaf gamers.
