It's
no surprise that Chris Sawyer decided to name the sequel
to Transport Tycoon, Locomotion. Over the last few years
a sackful of games have been released with the word 'Tycoon'
in the title and for the most part they have been utter
rubbish. Donald Trump's Real Estate Tycoon began life as
a cut-price, Activision Value, title and it's not difficult
to see why as it lacks quality in just about every department.
The
idea of the game is to challenge Donald Trump himself and
to become king of the business world. You'll have to buy
and sell properties and keep on eye on your businesses in
Los Angeles, New York, Atlantic City, London and Paris.
In theory this seems like it might be interesting but in
practice it doesn't work out that way. The game play is
uninspiring and the concept has been done much better in
many other titles.
Graphically
the game is a pretty basic 2D affair. You're locked at a
full screen resolution of 800x600 (which is particularly
unpleasant when using a 17" TFT). Saying the game isn't
really that old though the graphics should have been a lot
better. In fact the aforementioned Transport Tycoon looks
a whole lot better than this. The text provision in the
game is OK and the messages within the game are shown in
text and the tutorial is fully subtitled too.
Recommendation:
Not Recommended. Poor example of what the genre has to offer.
Suitability for deaf gamers: Suitable.
No problems.
